Your overall wellness is a top priority at Chesapeake Bay Aquatic & Physical Therapy. Our highly trained and certified therapists are dedicated to the success of their patients, helping ensure that you receive the correct care that will help ensure total body wellness for the future. Over the past few years, we have added a variety of wellness options that will complement our aquatic and traditional physical therapy.
A proprietary blend of magnesium, arnica, hemp seed, CBD and seaberry, Mag5PT was specifically created to assist with recovery from deep tissue and muscle therapy. Together, these ingredients work to boost recovery times, improve skin health, relieve pain and accelerate cell regeneration.
Not sold in stores, Mag5PT can only be obtained from your physical therapist and includes a full line of warming and cooling recovery creams and lotions, antimicrobial skin prep and wound therapy and more.
Not to be confused with acupuncture, dry needling is a modern treatment designed to ease muscle pain by the insertion of several slender needles into your skin. Also known as intramuscular stimulation, dry needling helps pinpoint pain relief to muscles that are knotted.
Dry needling is performed by trained physical therapists with experience in the practice and the medical knowledge required to understand pressure points and how to relieve physical pain. Easing these trigger points is often shown to increase range of motion and improve flexibility, making dry needling a valuable tool to treat sports injuries, muscle damage and fibromyalgia pain.
Also known as kinesiology tape, kinesio tape is the black or brightly-colored tape that you often see on athletes or those recovering from muscle injuries. The benefits of kinesio taping are often greater when combined with other therapy methods, providing support and pain relief along with reduced swelling and accelerated recovery.
While effective, it’s vital that kinesio tape is applied by a trained professional to ensure you receive the full benefits of this therapeutic method. By reducing the possibility of overusing or overstretching muscles, kinesio tape is a valuable tool for sports therapists to help prevent additional injuries due to overuse.

Used in traditional Chinese medicine, cupping therapy is often used to increase blood flow to specific areas of the body to stimulate healing, reduce pain and break up scar tissue. Cups are placed at the site of pain, and removed after a set period of time. Cupping is often used to treat muscle spasms and pain, creating a vacuum against the skin that will help loosen the fascia or connective tissue.
Cupping is often used for athletes to encourage blood flow and speed recovery after an injury or reduce the pain associated with the event. Skilled and licensed practitioners are often certified in acupuncture or related activities.
